Exhibition

In the „Treasure Chamber,” an exhibition space in the Baroque house at Neißstraße 30, you can visit an exhibition of selected bookbindings during the Tagung (conference). The exhibition spans from the late Middle Ages to the early 20th century. In addition to a few loans from the Goerlitz City Archives and the St. Peter and Paul Church Library, the focus is primarily on bindings from the Upper Lusatian Library of Sciences, many of which are being shown in such a context for the first time. The small special exhibition highlights works by Goerlitz bookbinders, bindings from Bohemia, Poland, and Silesia, as well as a selection of decorative papers. Particularly noteworthy are a double-sided engraved binding plate from the 16th century from Goerlitz and the recently discovered binding from the workshop of Lukas Weischner.

On October 22, 2026, at 3:30 p.m., conference participants have the opportunity to take part in a short guided tour of the „Treasure Chamber” (maximum 20 persons).
