cordially invite to the 29th Annual Tagung (Conference) of the AEB, taking place from 22nd to 24th October 2026, in Goerlitz (Görlitz).

This exceptionally beautiful city on the Lusatian Neisse River is known for its many architectural monuments spanning the Gothic and so called „Gründerzeit“ periods. The Tagung venue is the impressive Baroque city palace at Neißstraße 30, which today houses the library and museum as part of the „Görlitzer Sammlungen“.

The conference offers participants a diverse program including bookbinding studies conference, bookbinding workshops and guided tours of the historic rooms of the library, the museum, and the city archives. The conference will conclude with an excursion to the library of Marienthal Monastery near Ostritz (Marienthal bei Ostritz).

During the Tagung, an exhibition of book bindings from the late Middle Ages to the 20th century can be viewed in the „treasure chamber” of the Baroque building. An illustrated catalogue accompanies the exhibition.
